Hello!
I'm looking to get into public defense mitigation. I currently live in NH, but am willing to relocate. I have a master's degree in forensic psychology and have a year of experience working as a case manager at a county jail. Does anyone have any job leads they could send my way?
Thank you!
In the certificat program several people had questions about death penalty mitigation, training and the like. There was just a FREE overview training by Advancing Real Change out of Baltimore/Florida and NLADA has an upcoming Certificate training as well ($175). But if people have questions or want to have a conversation, I'm game. I've been doing mitigation since 1984, starting in Ohio not that long after our death penalty law went into effect in 1981. I'm returning FT thanks, in part, to the work we did here in NOFSW and the upcoming workshop too. I can be reached by text/phone at 614 447 0012. Good luck!
Hi! Hope you are doing well. I stumbled upon this book on Amazon. Not sure that it would necessarily lead to a specialization, but I would assume this may help lead you in the right direction. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1634259149/?coliid=I1GOYC8ECYAX6X&colid=1XYGFT7OXSRD7&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
In South Carolina, Bond Court is conducted by Magistrate Judges at the County Detention Center. In my County, the Public Defender’s office has a full time MSW employed to provide a Mitigation Plan at the time of the 24-48 bond hearing. Private attorneys are saying there is a need for a Forensic Social Worker in private practice to provide this service for private pay clients. Are there any textbooks, textbook chapters or professional articles that instruct a practitioner like me on how to do this specialization?
