The Citizens Crime Commission (CCC) is seeking an exceptional candidate for the Community Outreach Specialist (COS) role. The Citizens Crime Commission is a non-government, nonprofit organization charged with tackling the most vexatious crime issues of our time.  Specifically, we work with high-risk individuals who are gang and gun involved, and individuals at the early stages of mobilizing to violent extremism. Part-Time Social Worker, Harvard Law School

The Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) at Harvard Law School is a multidisciplinary public defender clinic that provides zealous defense to indigent adults and juvenile clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges in Boston area criminal courts.  The social work program works closely with student attorneys and clinical instructors while they complete case investigation, trial court work from arraignment to disposition, and interlocutory appellate representation in the Appeals Court and Supreme Judicial Court. The clinic also represents clients in compassionate release proceedings, as part of CJI’s Medical Parole Project, which seeks to find pathways to release from prison for those with debilitating medical conditions.  The social work team supports the legal work of CJI’s student attorneys as they learn to provide client-centered representation, developing their advocacy skills to help their clients both in and out of the court room.  We strongly encourage BIPOC social workers and those from other historically underrepresented communities to apply.  Preferred start day is mid-May 2022.
