Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice and the Carceral State
With violent policing, inhumane detention and imprisonment, community surveillance and loss of civil rights, the criminal legal system is unjust; and it is crucial for social workers to understand and take steps toward change. This session offers social workers strategies to maintain a social and racial justice oriented, anti-oppressive approach while working within the carceral state and explores avenues for moving toward transformative justice in collaboration with those most impacted.
